Doraemon Transforms into Time Machine in Cool Toy Demo Video

Late last year, we reported on an upcoming Doraemon toy that transforms into a time machine. That's cool and all, but the big question is—how does this round earless cat turn into a time-traveling tatami? A new video shows us!

Today, a press event was held for the upcoming toy. Advertised as "powered by Transformers," the new item is packed with the Takara Tomy know-how that made their Robots in Disguise so fun and functional. Akira Ishizeki, editor-in-chief of Shogakukan Doraemon Room, was in charge of planning this unique toy. At the press conference, he was also in charge of showing the world just how it transforms.

The "Complete Transformation Doraemon" comes with a variety of bonuses. A book showing you how to transform the toy yourself also includes a history of Doraemon's time-travel antics in the manga. Another included volume details the series' many robots. Plus there's a base to complete the look of the transformed time machine, a print of the toy in both its orientations, and package art by Transformers artist Hidetsugu Yoshioka.

The toy is now available for pre-order, and is priced at 12,903 yen (tax included). The first pre-order deadline is May 31, 2023; if the product proves to be especially popular, there may be a second round of pre-orders. Doraemon will be released for general sale on June 28.
